Community Issues

Building a Caring Community by...

Strengthening Families

Healthy families are critical to the strength of a community.  Families of all sizes and configurations are being strengthened by the United Way of Lebanon County through education, recreation programs, support groups, counseling and advocacy.

Building Futures

A caring community is built on the groundwork of its services to all of its citizens.  Through funded agencies, people can gain job skills and guidance.  Others are helped to find affordable housing and childcare.  Adults or children dealing with personal trauma can access safe, confidential counseling.  Tutoring and case management are helping others break through language and educational barriers.

Saving Children

At every stage of development, children need support and encouragement.  The United Way of Lebanon County is helping hundreds of children face the challenges of today's world.  Pre-school aged children are being provided with safe, stimulating daycare environments.  Young children of school age are receiving after school programs, tutoring and mentoring.  At-risk children of all ages are being given recreation opportunities, self-esteem building and guidance.

Offering Hope

Illness, disability and misfortune affect all communities.  United Way funded agencies offer hope.  Agencies provide support for people dealing with serious illnesses, counseling and mentoring to persons and families with special needs, and job training for those working to become productive citizens in the community.  When a natural disaster or a personal crisis strikes, our agencies are there to step in with food, clothing and shelter, providing hope to those in the greatest need.
